Scholarship Benefits

The RSMFP provides its fellows with a competitive salary package. For the 2023-24 cohort, each fellow will receive a total of $46,500, net of income taxes, for the duration of an 8-month fellowship. This amount is distributed in monthly installments. Given that the fellowship takes place at the World Bank in Washington D.C., the Human Resources Operations unit of the World Bank will aid the chosen candidates with the application process for a G4 visa.

Eligibility

To qualify for the RSMFP, applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Be a national of a World Bank WBG member country, with a preference given to nationals from developing countries.
  • Have fluency in the English language.
  • Hold a Master’s degree or be enrolled in a PhD program in Economics or a related field.
  • Be no older than 35 years of age by June 30, 2024.
  • Be willing and able to move to Washington, D.C. for the entire period of the fellowship.

  • A statement of purpose that outlines their research interests and professional goals, and highlights their suitability as development researchers.
  • The contact information for a referee who can supply a letter of recommendation if the applicant is shortlisted.

  • (Optional) A sample of code they have written.

Additional Information

Fellowships will be granted on the strength of the submitted application materials, the applicant’s command of pertinent economic methodologies, and their proven proficiency with necessary statistical software. In forming the cohort, there will be an effort to attain a balance in terms of geographical and gender diversity.
