Who Can Apply?

Criteria for Eligibility for Kellogg Institute Visiting Fellowships:

– English language proficiency

– Applicants from all world countries

– Promising junior and mid-career scholars (usually postdocs and assistant or associate professors)

– Experienced senior scholars with an established record of academic excellence

– Policymakers, journalists, and other practitioners who can link policy and scholarship- In exceptional cases, the Institute will support applicants with a Ph.D. or its equivalent in other disciplines

– The Institute wants applications from intelligent people who have experience, even if they don’t have a Ph.D.

– Graduate students who have achieved advanced ABD status may be eligible to apply but must have earned their Ph.D. before commencing the Fellowship to qualify for the award.

– Foreign nationals must have a valid passport and be able to obtain a J-1 Visa

– Students from any social sciences and humanities discipline or interdisciplinary programs.

– Applicants must demonstrate the capacity to contribute significantly to their research project and the Kellogg Institute’s mission.

– Candidates must be able to commit to the full duration of the fellowship program.

How to Apply?

  • Visit the Kellogg Institute website & select “Fellowships” from the menu.
  • Apply, along with any additional supporting documents, to the Institute by the stated deadline.

Documents needed for the scholarship:

– Address interest in the Fellowship and specify the preferred term of stay in the cover letter

– Include curriculum vitae

– Research project statement will be needed of 6 to 10 double-spaced pages

– Provide a project summary of 150 words max

– Provide a short bio of 200-300 words

– Provide three names and email addresses for letters of recommendation

– Provide two references from senior academic staff members in your area of study.

  • If selected, you will be invited to an interview with the Fellowships Board to discuss your application further.
  • The Fellowship Board will make a final decision about your application.
  • Successful applicants will receive a letter of acceptance from the Institute.
