Eligibility

Eligible individuals can submit their application for an ICP Connect scholarship if they fulfill the criteria below:

  • Nationality and residence: Applicants must hold citizenship from one of the 29 specified eligible countries and reside in any of these countries (which does not have to be their country of citizenship) at the time they apply. For the list of countries whose citizens can apply for scholarships, please refer to our list.
  • Age restrictions: As of January 1 in the intake year, applicants for an initial master must be under 36 years of age, and for an advanced master, under 46 years of age.
  • Employment and experience: Those currently working in academia, governmental sectors, or non-governmental organizations will be given preference. However, private sector employees or recent graduates lacking professional experience are also encouraged to apply, provided they present a compelling motivation and profile.
  • Scholarship application rules: Each individual is permitted to apply for only one ICP Connect scholarship each year. Simultaneous receipt of another scholarship or grant for this or any other study program is not allowed.
  • Past scholarship awards: Applicants should not have previously been granted a scholarship by the Belgian government for any study program, nor should they have been enrolled in any Belgian higher education institution prior to January 1 of the intake year.

Be aware that institutions may specify additional criteria.
