Eligibility

Eligibility criteria for applicants stipulate that they must:

  • Originate from one of the specified developing nations. The following list details eligible countries; those not included are deemed ineligible:
  • Africa: Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo), Ethiopia, Guinea, Cameroon, Kenya, Madagascar, Morocco, Mozambique, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Niger
  • Asia: Cambodia, Philippines, Indonesia, Palestinian Territories, Vietnam
  • Latin America: Bolivia, Cuba, Ecuador, Haiti, Nicaragua, Peru
  • Hold an initial master’s degree from KU Leuven, be a current student in the initial phase of a KU Leuven master’s program, or be an alumnus of KU Leuven.
  • Demonstrate excellent academic performance with a minimum overall result of 68% (cum laude).

How to apply

Students who wish to apply for a scholarship from the Roger Dillemans Fund should adhere to the following procedure:

  1. Admission to Master’s Programme:
  • If you are planning to start a new Master’s program in the next academic year, ensure that you are admitted to the Master’s program of your choice by following the KU Leuven Admissions Office’s Application Procedure.
  1. Application Form:
  • Starting from 15 February 2024, fill out the application form for the Roger Dillemans Fund scholarship.
  • Attach the required documents to your application form:
  • Study Results: Provide a detailed overview of your previous study results at KU Leuven.
  • Letter of Motivation: Your motivation letter should convey your objectives and professional aspirations, emphasizing your ability to transfer knowledge/skills or initiate extension activities. The letter should highlight themes of sustainable development that are relevant to your chosen study program. Showcase your potential and determination to become an ‘agent of change’ after completing your studies, taking into account that while academic achievements are significant, your capability and dedication to effect change are especially crucial.
  • Recommendation Letter: Include a recommendation letter from your referee at KU Leuven.
  1. Notification Email:
  • Send an email to Mathias Groenweghe signaling your application to the Roger Dillemans Fund scholarship. The email should include your motivation and a transcript of all the marks obtained at KU Leuven.
  1. Reference Letter Submission:
  • The reference letter should be sent directly to Mathias Groenweghe by your KU Leuven referee. Note that referees must be affiliated with KU Leuven and no external referees are accepted.
