Scholarship Benefits

The University of Adelaide, representing the Australian Government, offers RTP Scholarships. Additionally, the University funds its own Research Scholarships.

The benefits for RTP and University of Adelaide Research Scholarships include:

Full-time students are granted a tax-exempt stipend of $34,210 per annum in 2024 (adjusted yearly).

Part-time students receive a taxable stipend of $17,105 per annum in 2024 (adjusted yearly).

Full-time Indigenous students are awarded a tax-free stipend of $50,291 per annum in 2024 (adjusted yearly).

Part-time Indigenous students are provided with a taxable stipend of $25,145.50 per annum in 2024 (adjusted yearly).

Eligibility

To be considered for a scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Candidates must qualify to enroll in a full-time Higher Degree by Research (HDR) program at the University of Adelaide. Those interested in part-time studies should refer to Section 3 on Study Load.

International candidates must retain their ‘international student’ status throughout their time at the University. If they receive a different visa subclass or become permanent residents, they must inform the Adelaide Graduate Research School to get details on any transition arrangements.

Ongoing qualifications will not count towards scholarship eligibility unless they are completed, with the necessary proof provided, by the scholarship deadline.

Domestic and onshore international applicants finishing a Coursework qualification in the semester of application at an Australian university (only University of Adelaide for international students) will be considered.

Domestic and onshore international applicants finishing a Higher Degree by Research qualification in the semester of application at an Australian university (only University of Adelaide for international students) must have submitted their thesis for examination by the scholarship deadline. Examination results must be submitted within three months of the scholarship deadline.
