Scholarship Benefits

The scholarship sum is set at $25,000.00 and is distributed to the scholars by the UM International Services Desk. For the 2024-2025 High Potential Scholarship Programme, the financial provision includes:

Eligibility

Eligibility criteria for all applicants are as follows:

  • Possession of citizenship from a nation outside the United States, European Union (EU)/European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland, or Suriname, along with eligibility for a U.S. entry visa and residence permit.
  • Absence of dual citizenship with any EU/EEA country.
  • Submission of an application for enrollment in a full-time undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral program (among those participating) at the University for the academic year 2024-2025.
  • Fulfillment of the specific entry prerequisites of the applied academic program.
  • No prior enrollment in any degree-seeking post-secondary education program within the United States. However, students who have completed exchange programs in the United States may apply.
  • Age must be under 45 years as of September 1, 2023.
  • Demonstration of outstanding academic performance in previous educational endeavors, as evidenced by the most recent grades transcript or a letter certifying academic excellence. In instances where multiple candidates possess equal qualifications, preference will be extended to those whose transcript or letter of academic excellence indicates they are within the top 5% of the scholarship program applicants for 2024-2025.

Additional Information

It is important to be aware that this scholarship is highly competitive; only about 30% of applicants receive an award. The scholarship is partially funded, providing recipients with a waiver for part of the tuition fees and other application-related costs.
