Description of Scholarship 

This scholarship includes a stipend for board and housing in addition to paying for tuition. All students will be eligible for extra support for their research endeavors, even those conducted overseas. 

The Scuola Normale Superiore offers 75 Ph.D. scholarships over four years to both Italian and international students. The scholarship is worth €17,000.00 for the academic year 2022–2023 and comprises a housing allowance. Additionally, students are entitled to free lunches at SNS facilities.

A spot is designated for applicants with a legitimate qualification for each postgraduate program, allowing them to enter the competition in international universities.

Scholarships for Ph.D. at Scuola Normale Superiore Eligibility Criteria

Candidates for this university scholarship are encouraged to apply if they hold an Italian Laurea Magistrale, an MA/MS degree, or an equivalent degree from another country. Students can also apply if they anticipate obtaining the degree by 31 October 2022, regardless of their citizenship.

The applicants must satisfy each of the conditions listed below to apply for the scholarships at Scuola Normale Superiore: 

  • Students from both Italian nationals and other countries can apply to all Ph.D. programs.
  • Students from both Italian nationals and other countries can apply to all Ph.D. programs.
  • Any candidate born after 31 October 1990 is free to apply.
  • Those students can also apply who, by 31 October 2022, have earned a master’s degree from an institution in Italy or a degree that is equivalent elsewhere.
  • Candidates must never be convicted of a crime that resulted in a sentence of more than three years in jail.
  • Candidates still need to receive a scholarship to attend a research doctorate course in Italy. 
  • As stated in the SNS’s didactic regulations, candidates have not been subjected to the disciplinary action of “expulsion.”
