Eligibility

Individuals who have completed their education at institutions comparable to Turkish high schools or are in their final year of such schools can apply to undergraduate programs if they fulfill the following application criteria:

International applicants include:

  • Those who relinquished Turkish citizenship to receive a Blue Card,
  • Citizens of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus,
  • International students, excluding those enrolled in Embassy Schools and International Private Education Institutions in the MOBIS system, and those brought to Turkey under a Ministry of National Education project. This is provided they were studying at high school-level educational institutions in Turkey and enrolled prior to the 2022-2023 Academic year.
  • Individuals originally Turkish citizens by birth who have renounced their citizenship, and their minor children listed on the renunciation document, may apply if they can provide documentation proving their eligibility under Article 7 of the Turkish Citizenship Law No. 5901. This law states that “Anyone born to a Turkish mother or father, in or outside of Turkey, is a Turkish citizen.” These individuals must have enrolled in a Turkish secondary educational institution before the 2022-2023 academic year.
  • Those born with foreign citizenship who later acquired Turkish nationality or possess dual citizenship. These applicants also need to have been enrolled in a high school in Turkey before the 2022-2023 academic year.

Categories of eligibility based on educational background abroad include:

  1. a) Turkish citizens who have spent the last three years of their high school education abroad, excluding the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, before 01/02/2013. This includes those who attended a Turkish high school established overseas, outside of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, under the Ministry of National Education.
  2. b) Individuals who began high school abroad post-01/02/2013 and completed it outside the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. This includes completions at Turkish high schools established overseas, outside the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, under the Ministry of National Education.
  3. c) Turkish citizens or dual nationals, one of which is Turkish, must have pursued their high school education abroad as in-person learning (not via distance learning). These candidates need to verify their attendance by presenting passport pages that show entry stamps from the country of their high school.

Citizens of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus who reside there and have completed their secondary education in the GCE AL system, as well as those who were registered and completed their secondary education in the GCE AL system abroad between 2005-2010.

Required Documents for Application:

  •  Exam/Diploma Certification: Submit a copy of an exam or diploma result with a valid score recognized by Sabancı University. Applications lacking valid scores from accepted exams or diplomas will not be considered.
  • High School Diploma: If already graduated, provide your high school diploma. If the diploma is in a language other than Turkish or English, include a notarized translation.
  • Official High School Transcript: Must include all courses and grades from your entire high school education and be authenticated by the high school authority. Transcripts must bear a wet signature and stamp or a verifiable e-signature; otherwise, they will not be considered.
  • Language Proficiency Score: If applicable, provide a language proficiency exam score that Sabancı University accepts.

Additional Documents for Applicants with Secondary Education in Turkey:

  • Foreign nationals must submit a copy of their Residence Permit.
  • Individuals who have renounced Turkish citizenship must provide a Blue Card copy or an official renouncement letter.
  • Those who acquired Turkish citizenship (not by birth) need to present a Residence Permit copy or an official document indicating the date of citizenship acquisition, such as a Vukuatlı Nüfus Kayıt Örneği or a court decision.
  • Documentation for Turkish Citizens or Dual Nationals Educated Abroad: Applicants must submit ‘yurda giriş-çıkış belgesi’ from e-devlet and pages from their passport to verify that their secondary education was conducted formally (not via distance learning).
  • Please ensure that all documents are complete and accurately reflect your academic and personal history to avoid delays in the evaluation of your application.
