Scholarship Benefits

The scholarship provides full coverage of the course fees along with a living costs grant, which is a minimum of £18,622. The awards extend across the entire period of your fee responsibility for the agreed-upon course. It’s possible to combine these awards with other funding sources; however, any additional funding will be considered when calculating the total value of the award.

Eligibility

Eligibility for the OCIS Scholarships is determined by the following guidelines:

  • Language Requirement: Proficiency in English is a must.
  • Country of Residence and Nationality: Applicants should either be:
  • Habitually living in the UK, belonging to a Muslim community, with a preference for applicants from economically disadvantaged families, or

Citizens and habitual residents of certain Asian and African countries, specifically: Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Benin, Brunei Darussalam, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Comoros, Côte d’Ivoire, Djibouti, Egypt, Gabon, The Gambia, Guinea, Guyana, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Libya, Malaysia, Maldives, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Suriname, Syrian Arab Republic, Tajikistan, Togo, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uganda, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Yemen.

  • Enrollment: You must be seeking admission for a new, full-time master’s or DPhil program at the University of Oxford.
  • Intention After Graduation: Post-study, you should plan to return to your home country.
  • Selection Criteria: Awards are granted based on academic excellence.
  • Field of Study: Your proposed field of study should be inspired by, or pertinent to, Islamic traditions, or it should benefit the Muslim community in some way.

This scholarship is not available for those applying to postgraduate certificate or postgraduate diploma courses, part-time or non-degree courses.
