Scholarship Benefits

The scholarship provides the following benefits:

  • Tuition is covered at 100%, ensuring no cost for educational fees.
  • Accommodations are provided on campus for students.
  • Health insurance coverage, along with visa sponsorship for international students not from the UAE.
  • A monthly allowance is available, contingent on the University’s regulations, as detailed in the University Catalog.

For both international students and those residing in the UAE:

  • MSc students receive an allowance of AED 8,000.
  • PhD students are granted AED 10,000. Married PhD candidates may opt for off-campus housing with a potential additional housing allowance of AED 5,000, pending approval and provision of requisite documentation. 

For UAE national students:

  • Single MSc scholars are allocated AED 30,000, while married ones get AED 33,000, subject to the submission of valid documents.
  • PhD students who are single are provided AED 36,000, and those who are married receive AED 39,000, also requiring official paperwork.

Eligibility

Applicants seeking to transfer credits from any UAE federal or accredited institution, or an overseas higher education institution recognized in its home country, must supply proof as mentioned in the admission guidelines. This documentation will aid the Academic Committee in deciding on credit transfers.

The maximum transfer credits permissible for a particular degree program are capped at 25% of the total credit hours for both MSc and Ph.D. programs. Transfers are exclusively available to students in good academic standing who have the right to re-enroll at their present or previous institution.

MBZUAI will consider transferring credits only if the courses are pertinent to the intended degree, align with the expected learning outcomes, and if the student has achieved a minimum of a B grade (equivalent to 3.0 on a 4.0 scale). Transferred courses will be marked as “TC” in the student’s academic transcript. Although these approved transfer credits will count towards the completion of credit hours, they will not factor into the GPA calculation.

Credits from transferred courses must not have been counted towards another graduate degree. Additionally, these credits should have been earned within two years preceding the student’s admission to MBZUAI’s program.

Decisions on credit transfers rest solely with the MBZUAI Academic Committee, which reserves the right to accept or decline any transfer requests.

All transfer credit applications for M.Sc. or Ph.D. programs must be processed online, with all necessary documents provided.

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) detailing academic history, work experience, research publications, and programming/coding expertise
  • A clear copy of a valid passport
  • A recent photograph set against a white backdrop
  • Copy of UAE visa
