Scholarship Benefits

The Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship offers a €10,000 stipend for one academic year to support full-time master’s or PhD level study. In conjunction with this stipend, the scholarship recipients’ respective host higher education institutions must provide a complete tuition fee waiver for the scholarship year.

Eligibility

To qualify for the Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship, candidates must:

  • Have a domicile of origin that is outside the EU, EEA, Switzerland, or the United Kingdom.
  • Apply and secure admission to an eligible master’s or PhD program at a participating higher education institution in Ireland, following that institution’s standard admission procedures.
  • Possess either a conditional or final offer of admission from the higher education institution at the time of their scholarship application, and must provide a copy of this offer.
  • The offer letter must verify that the candidate has been accepted onto a full-time program and will be paying tuition fees at the international rate.

Due to the ongoing conflict involving Russia in Ukraine, nationals from Russia and Belarus are currently ineligible to apply for this scholarship.

All applications need to be submitted through the designated online portal.

Additional Information

Initially, applications will be distributed to the appropriate higher education institutions. These institutions will review the applications to confirm eligibility and create a shortlist, taking into consideration how well the applications align with the institutions’ strategic goals. Following this, an independent panel consisting of international experts will evaluate the shortlisted applications.
