Eligibility

To qualify for the Research Training Program (RTP) scholarship, applicants must fulfill the following criteria:

  • They must be either a domestic or an international student who is registered in an accredited Higher Degree by Research (HDR) program at the Australian National University.
  • They must not have an income from another source for their living expenses during their study period that exceeds 75% of the RTP Stipend rate.

Additionally, to maintain the RTP scholarship, students must:

  • Stay enrolled in their HDR program and, for international students, maintain their residency status. If an international student’s residency status changes, the university must reassess their RTP scholarship eligibility based on the new status.
  • Not be the recipient of another Commonwealth scholarship aimed at covering HDR tuition fees while they are receiving an RTP Fee Offset scholarship.

This scholarship is open to all citizens of every country.

How to apply

For new students: There is no need to submit a separate application for this scholarship; all eligible individuals will automatically be taken into account. To guarantee your inclusion in the scholarship consideration, make sure to indicate your interest in any scholarships that may be available by checking the relevant boxes on the admission application form.

For current students: You should fill out the Request for a Current ANU Student to be Considered for a HDR Scholarship form and submit it to your Academic College.
