Scholarship Benefits
A financial support of 500,000 yen will be provided to a single successful applicant upon their enrollment in a designated Japanese university. Additionally, two successful applicants will receive a financial support of 100,000 yen each after they have enrolled in their respective specified Japanese universities.
Eligibility
Candidates are required to satisfy each condition listed below:
- Admission must be confirmed for a Japanese university’s undergraduate or graduate degree program commencing either in the spring (April/May) or fall (September – November) of 2024. (Excludes participants in Japanese language and brief educational programs.)
- An active MY PAGE on the JAPAN STUDY SUPPORT website, a resource for international students managed through collaboration between the Asian Students Cultural Association and Benesse Corporation, should be maintained.
- A message should have been received from the prospective university using the “JPSS Scout function” before the candidate’s acceptance was confirmed.
- The ability to conduct an interview in Japanese or English is required.
- Possession of a bank account in Japan, under the candidate’s name, for scholarship disbursements is necessary. Accounts from internet banks are not deemed acceptable.
- The applicant must not hold Japanese citizenship.

The necessary documents for submission include:
- The application form, which captures basic information.
- A concise essay, not exceeding 350 words in English or 800 characters in Japanese, detailing your ‘Motivation to Study in Japan & Future Goals’. It is advised to utilize the maximum word or character count.
- A self-introduction video, limited to a duration of 30 seconds or less.
