Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants are required to meet academic standards for admission to their chosen degree program, which includes demonstrating English proficiency.
  • Applicants should be citizens of an African nation and committed to ethical leadership, with proven involvement in their communities.
  • Applicants need to be aged between 18 and 33 by the application deadline.
  • Applicants are expected to show a history of leadership and community service.
  • Applicants need to exhibit academic excellence and aspirations that surpass their financial means.
  • Applicants should have obtained an undergraduate degree that includes at least four years of study, to be conferred by July 2024.
  • Applicants must not have commenced or completed any other graduate or master’s degrees prior to August 2024.
  • Applicants should be prepared to reside in Phoenix, Arizona for the entire duration of the program.
  • Having a robust background in mathematics, statistics, and computer science is recommended for applicants.

Arizona State University, in collaboration with the Mastercard Foundation, is offering a 9-month intensive program in artificial intelligence (AI) and business for selected Mastercard Foundation Scholars. This program aims to develop leadership and entrepreneurship skills, alongside technical AI capabilities, preparing students to become leaders in AI who can address challenges both in Africa and globally.
