It also seeks to make Canada a recognized centre of excellence for higher education and research worldwide by recognizing, assisting, and retaining top-tier PhD students.
Furthermore, applicants must have achieved an overall average grade equivalent of A or B+ during their last academic year or equivalent degree program, among other criteria set by the CGS-Vanier program. Who is eligible to apply?
-International students who are starting or continuing their PhD studies at a Canadian institution
-Have completed the last two years of full-time study with a first-grade or equal grade point average, as recognized by the institution.
-Be pursuing their studies in one of the following three priority areas: health research, natural sciences, and engineering research, or social sciences and humanities research
-Major doctorates and the Vanier Canadian study program cannot be held simultaneously.
-Be nominated by only one Canadian institution, which must have received a Vanier CGS allocation
-Demonstrate leadership skills and a high standard of scholarly achievement in their field of research
-Be ready to represent our Vanier study program actively throughout their tenure. If awarded, scholars must agree to participate in media interviews and other events related to their studies and provide reports to the administering agency on their progress.
How to apply?
Applying for the Scholarships for Graduates from Vanier Canada Program is a two-step process. Firstly, the student must inform their graduate studies faculty expressing their intention to apply to the Vanier study program. Secondly, if the student is selected, the institution must initiate the nomination procedure by getting in touch with the student.
To successfully complete the application process, students have to:
1. Submit an online application that includes the following components:
