What does the scholarship cover?

• The Simmons University Kotzen Scholarship covers full tuition fees for your studies. 

• The scholarship also covers any mandatory fees associated with your studies. 

• The scholarship also covers the cost of room & board while you study. This includes a private bedroom, meals at campus dining facilities, or other approved meal plans.

• It is important to note that the scholarship does not cover additional costs outside the above three points. This could include any travel, books, supplies, or other related costs incurred during your studies. 

• Additionally, the scholarship does not cover living costs after graduation, so you must plan accordingly when budgeting for post-graduation expenses. 

• Each year, a $3,000 scholarship is offered to cover study abroad costs, short-term courses, summer internship tuition, and research assistance. 

Who is eligible for the scholarship?

– Must be an international student

– Must be accepted to Simmons University as an undergraduate student

– Must demonstrate academic excellence, financial need, and a commitment to leadership

– A cumulative GPA of at least 3.3 or higher is necessary.

– Must maintain full-time enrollment (12 credits per semester) during the award period 

– Must demonstrate active participation in campus life & leadership initiatives

– Must have valid TOEFL/IELTS scores (for non-native English speakers)

How to apply for the scholarship?

1. Register for an account on the Simmons University website and submit your application.

2. You must submit your application with all necessary materials, including transcripts, letters of recommendation, & a personal statement.

3. There are two sections to the application. A formal essay & a brief response. By Dec. 1, students should send their essays to [email protected] or through our online form with the subject line “Kotzen Application.” Students should write their full name & birthdate on each page of the document.

4. When your application is submitted, the admissions committee will review it.

5. You must submit the Kotzen Scholarship application form, which is available on the Simmons University website after your application has been accepted.

6. Submit any additional documents required for the scholarship, such as financial documents, resumes, & other materials requested by the scholarship committee.

7. You will then be contacted for an interview if you are selected as a potential scholarship recipient.

8. After the interview, the scholarship committee will make a final decision & notify you of the results.
