An exception exists for Samoan scholars, who are permitted to start their scholarship at the age of 17. How to apply

For details on student visa requirements and the application process for New Zealand, please refer to the external link provided here. It is also important that you note the following:

  • During the New Zealand Scholarships application process, candidates must select their desired educational institutions and courses. Applicants for scholarships are not required to apply for admission to their selected institutions and courses until they have been informed that they are a preferred scholarship candidate.
  • However, it is important for applicants to verify that they are likely to fulfill the minimum academic requirements and the required English proficiency level for their chosen courses. Entry requirements for courses are determined by the educational institutions, so applicants should consult the institution’s website for minimum entry requirements before applying for a scholarship.
  • PhD scholarship candidates should begin identifying and contacting suitable PhD supervisors at New Zealand universities early in their application process. Those reaching the interview phase must demonstrate that they have either secured a supervisor or are actively engaging with a potential supervisor.
