Wanted for adventure
This pre-World War I U.S. Army recruiting poster by artist Michael P. Whelan depicts an infantry sergeant with a rifle standing alongside a cavalry trooper on horseback blowing a bugle. The colors of the men’s hats are different for a reason: the blue represents the infantry; yellow denotes cavalry. Note the wide-open spaces in the poster’s background, suggesting the American West.
