“Demon Chasers” overseas

The 91st Aero Squadron engaged in 139 aerial combats, shooting down 231 enemy planes during World War I. In March 1919, this U.S. Army captain stood next to an aircraft, probably an Airco D.H. 4, decorated with the squadron’s emblem, the Demon Chaser, a mounted knight with a lance chasing a demon.
