Phone call from the Moon

As this page from President Richard Nixon’s daily diary shows, the evening of July 20, 1969, had been busy. Nixon’s last phone call took place at 11:45 P.M. It was an “interplanetary conversation” with astronauts Neil Armstrong and “Buzz” Aldrin. During the conversation Armstrong said: “It’s a great honor and privilege for us to be here representing not only the United States but men of peace of all nations.”
