Hook and eye

On January 6, 1903, Christian Andresen, of St. Louis, Missouri, submitted a patent application for his hook and eye invention. In his application, he states, “my object is to construct an improved hook and eye . . . to prevent accidental unhooking.” His patent was granted a little over a year later, on March 29, 1904.
