Reagan shot!


On March 30, 1981, only nine weeks after President Ronald Reagan took office, he was shot by John Hinckley, Jr. Vice President George Bush scribbled his feelings about the “enormity” of the event on this note pad while onboard a Presidential aircraft. Reagan, Press Secretary James Brady, Secret Service Agent Timothy McCarthy, and policeman Thomas Delahanty all survived the shooting.
