President Johnson visits President Truman


On July 30, 1965, President Lyndon B. Johnson visited the Harry S. Truman Library to sign the Medicare Act. At the signing, President Johnson praised President Truman for being the first President to support a national health insurance program. Among the onlookers at the signing are Senator Edward Long, Senator Mike Mansfield, Lady Bird Johnson, Vice President Hubert Humphrey, and Bess Truman.
