Remarks on schools

Freedmen’s Bureau agents were required to submit reports on educational efforts in the locations where they were assigned. Reports on schools for Freedmen often included information about the number of students attending school, student progress, and the effectiveness of teachers. In No. 9 of this report, the teacher complains, "that the interest of pupils has declined since the extreme warm weather."
