Taking CARE

ca. 1945

With a CARE package in front of them, three East German children are enjoying their sandwiches. A typical package held items like margarine, powdered milk, meats, fruits, and coffee. Founded in 1945, CARE (Cooperative for American Remittances to Europe) provided relief to many starving survivors of World War II.
